I can’t pair cool songs to match my pictures on here, like other social media. Like maybe I’d put ‘Fortunate Son’ by CCR for this post, just hella generic, but apt. I saw this pic of a lighter and considering the state of the world currently, (well, honestly, most of the time thru history there are greedy, idiotic megalomaniacs driving wars to some small or large degree) felt like sharing it. It’s nothing new- I’m sure many have seen the adage before, but I think since my Father and his twin brother were veterans, and now both dead, feels a little more poignant. My father didn’t fight in Vietnam, he was stationed in Europe mostly, but his twin did, and he suffered some classic and terrible PTSD behaviors. He returned from the war basically a hermit. Lucky for him, my grandfather had bought a summer cabin on a lake, which he co-opted as his own. And a few years later, after it was burned down, he built a 10x12 foot ‘cabin’ on the land (and an outhouse!) and lived in it about 45 years until he passed. When the cops found the Unibomber, my uncle called my dad to say “they found him, and he lives in a cabin just like mine- and he looks like me!” And it was all true. Funny. RIP to them both.

I have a print of this hanging in my bathroom that a tattooer made, my grandfather was in the Korean War and he came back affected as well. But it is a great reminder that this is nothing new, albeit more in our faces and simultaneously viewable then past generations due to these devices we can view the world on from the palms of our hand. But it’s nothing new.
Also I just bought CCR 20 golden hits on record my last trip out to see Wes and Kundell, I’ve weirdly been appreciating them this summer after writing them off for most of my life.
